Our Advantage is Your Advantage….
Owner: Meredith Vorrath, LICENSED ACUPUNCTURE PHYSICIAN & DOCTOR OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE
Meredith Vorrath first became interested in alternative medicine while she was working at a supplement store in high school. Inspired by the improvement customers saw in their health by taking vitamins and herbs, she became interested in finding a career that would provide the opportunity to help people without surgery or pharmaceuticals.
She eventually found acupuncture and oriental medicine and was impressed with its healing effects and wide range of application. She attended the Florida College of Integrative Medicine and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Health Sciences and a Master’s in Oriental Medicine.
She previously worked in Wellington for 3 years before transitioning to community style acupuncture at TCCA in Stuart for a year and a half. Now, she has opened Boynton Beach Community Acupuncture and is the new owner of Acupuncture Advantage in Boca Raton, FL. She looks forward to watching both centers grow to serve the Palm Beach County community.
Meredith has a hunger for learning and is constantly expanding and adding to her medical knowledge. She has committed herself to providing the highest quality healthcare possible in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Meredith is one of few people who get to do what they truly love and truly love what they do! In addition to acupuncture, she enjoys the outdoors, paddle boarding, and crafts. If you have any questions about acupuncture or oriental medicine, please feel free to call or e-mail her.
Anderson C. Goncalves, LICENSED ACUPUNCTURE PHYSICIAN & DOCTOR OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE
After being exposed to diverse industries professionally, my mind was set to go to college to pursue a career where I could help others and possibly change their lives. I’ve always loved health care and oriental medicine, therefore, I became a student at the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science and a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine; eventually becoming a licensed acupuncture physician in the state of Florida.
My call to cancer care dates back a few years when my mother was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. The side effects were so harsh that often she would have to call 911 for help. Her symptoms included severe pain, fatigue, hot flashes, and itching under her fingernails. Conventional medicine could not help much with these symptoms other than to offer more and more analgesic (pain managing) drugs.
Many of my friends and family members have been affected by this disease. While my mother was undergoing chemotherapy, my wife was also was in the hospital recovering from a total thyroidectomy as part of her thyroid cancer treatment. Other family members affected by cancer include my grandparents, who died as a result of intestinal cancer, and my father, who thankfully is a survivor of skin cancer. During my oriental medicine training, I lost two classmates and friends to advanced brain and uterine cancer.
Being in private practice for the past few years, my heart’s desire was to offer my services to the underserved communities in a social way. After many prayers, I found a business style that serves through social justice, and I am proud to serve here through Community Acupuncture.
Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture have proved to be effective in relieving or reducing the side effects of chemotherapy and post traumatic stress disorder. My work is my opportunity to provide the medicine I love for a cause that is near and dear to my heart for individuals that are hurting.
